What I’m Reading: Miss Peregrine Books

This series is one of the best I’ve ever read. The books are addictive and engrossing. It’s been some time since I read them on my Kindle (checked them out from my local library), but the stories still haunt me – in a good way. I’m planning to read several more books by the author, Ransom Riggs, in the near future.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

The world of Peculiars is one of loops, hollows, ymbrynes, and living unchanged for decades. It’s a mind-boggling world in a book, complete with wonderful vintage black and white photos of the children. Go along on the adventure as Jake finds out he’s a peculiar who can see the monsters.

Hollow City

The story continues in Hollow City, and in the third book, Library of Souls.

Library of Souls

The first book of the series, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, has also been made into an awesome movie. One can only hope there is a series in the offing! I encouraged my daughter to purchase the movie because I liked the book so much, and it’s certainly been a worthwhile purchase – my four-year-old grandson LOVES it, and has been watching it almost every day since, sometimes twice. The books are available on Amazon, as is the DVD and the Amazon Prime Video streaming version. You can also get it as a DVD rental from Netflix and Redbox.

Ransom Riggs

I wonder what kind of a mind can imagine a fantasy world like this. I think Ransom Riggs must be either crazy or a genius… maybe both? I recommend all the books and the movie.
